After a broken off medicines study and a small sidestep into the
pharmaceutical industry at the end of the fifties, Henri Doyen (Henry Dean’s
given name) started up his own company fabricating plastic flowers for funeral wreaths.
He even thought about expanding into coffins and even a crematorium until he realized
that this was not what he wanted to do for the rest of his life.
Until today he can not even look at another plastic flower!
After this he and his wife Edith started up a wholesale company, selling country-style
objects such as green, recycled glassware, Portuguese pottery, china ware, kitchen accessories etc…
The Belgian market being too cramped for them, they started exporting to France.
They gradually stopped selling porcelain and continued with their first love : glass.
Wanting to offer something that couldn’t be found elsewhere, Henry Dean started creating his own designs.
Now (after almost 30 years) the company’s main export markets are Germany &
Switzerland but the products are being sold as far as Hong Kong.
